History of the palace
Mandir Palace is a 200-year-old palace in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The attraction belongs to the medieval times and was built as the Royal residence of the Maharawal Moolraji Family in late 1700s. Maharawal Moolraji wanted a grand residence around the temples of Jaisalmer. Some portions of the house were built by him and some, by his descendants. With each generation, the Palace designs were improvised to accommodate the latest architectural evolution but the essence was maintained throughout. The Golden Suites are the first ever suites built. The came the Surya Mahal Suites, and later the Badal Villas and the Jawar Villas (the most recent additions to the palace). At present, Mandir Palace has been transformed into a heritage hotel and opened to the public who want a taste of the royal lifestyle.
